Here are some more information for Windstream Speedstream:

Wow! Originally, I had a Windstream Siemens Speed Stream 4200 DSL modem connected to the WAN port on a LinkSys five port hub model number NH105 and that was connected to a the regular port on a D-Link five port Ethernet broadband router model number DI-604. The printer is connected to a TRENDnet USB print server model number TE100-P2U1P. My home network uses CAT5 cable connecting one desktop computer to the router. The other desktop computer, laptop, and the print server is connected to the LinkSys hub. It took me several hours researching the Internet to figure out how to get this setup to work.

For about a month now the computers have been losing Internet connection frequently. So I went into troubleshooting mode to find the culprit causing the problem. The first thing I did was to unplug the telephone wire from the wall jack that has a DSL filter and waited for about ten minutes before plugging it back in to be on the safe side giving it enough time to reset. The problem still existed. The second thing I did was to check all cable connections to make sure that they were plugged in correctly and I did find the telephone wire was not getting a good connection so I replaced it. It did not solve the problem. The third thing I tried was to plug my computer directly into the DSL modem and the problem was solved.

I have had my LinkSys hub and D-Link router for several years so I think they are going bad. So it was time for me to do some research to find an inexpensive way to solve my connection problem. Lo and behold I learned that a network switch works more efficient than a network hub. I was thinking that maybe it will work as a stand alone unit without connecting it to a router. After purchasing a LinkSys eight port Ethernet switch model number EZXS88W and connecting it directly to my DSL Modem it would only allow one computer to successfully connect to the Internet.

With no such luck trying to get the switch to work by itself because it must have a router to set multiple Internet protocol addresses for multiple computers to connect to the Internet so for testing purposes I connected my current router to my network to see how it would work. At first I connected it up like the diagram was shown on the box and several examples I found on the Internet. Which was connecting the DSL modem to the the router WAN port, then connecting the router regular port to the WAN port on the network switch, and connecting the computers and print server to the switch. The computers connected fine but I could not print anything.

Using a CAT5 cable I ended up having to connect the DSL modem to the WAN port on the LinkSys network switch then connect it to the D-Link router then connect the two desktop computers, one laptop, and the print server to the network switch. After this was done I can connect to the Internet and print from all connected sources.
