The Xoops content management system comes with a modular structure allowing additional programs to be added to the core framework of coding. So far as Xoops is concerned, you have to download certain modules as compulsory add-ons. They are additional editors like word processor, backup module for your site's data, diagnostic modules for managing your site. But the most important is the security modules (antivirus and firewall).
Although Xoops is claimed to be the securest CMS models, it has its own loop holes and if you are serious about the security issues of your site, you should never compromise in this area. Remember, the protector module is a must for your Xoops site. Once you have finished the installation of default Xoops framework, the first module you should add to the structure is the GIJOE's Xoops protector module for getting added security features for your system, otherwise not offered by the Xoops default installation. Xoops protector module is specially designed to defend against any hacker’s attacks----both on Xoops core structure and other modules.
So what types of cracker’s attacks this module can resist?
The Xoops protector module is supposed to make your site immune of such attacks as:
• DoS

4. Lastly upload a blank or redirecting index.html to the protector directory to prevent directory listing. However, a good web host is supposed to provide this by default.
Also make use of the outstanding feature of the Protector Module called the Security Advisory to check your Xoops installation for weaknesses

vb module component?
i am learning the visual basic thru books. i dont know yet what the module component is there for. i red that it exist to create dll files. can anybody explain to me more about this please

New/Class. You will add your module there. When you save you module/class, you will have create a .dll file. That file can be accessed in other programs.
