Is my thesis right or can you restate it please.
The education of a human being begins at birth and continues throughout life. Since the early 1980's North America has been behind Japan, Taiwan, and China. Our children's competence in mathematics, science, and technology are at risk. We should have math, science, and reading homework beginning in kindergarten because childre need to face challenges at an early age. Our expectations for our children should be much higher(Bempechat 501). For a high school student, self esteem is essential.

Take out the last sentence.

Now you can restate it something like this at the end of your paragraph: According to statistics, the North American education system lacks a firm background in mathematics and science, thus school systems in these areas should challenge students to a higher degree.
