How do i find out the name of my COM port? ie COM[1,2,3,4 etc]?
Im trying to use vb to create a windows app to talk to a microcontroller. My pc does not have a serial port, so i purchased a USB-RS232 converter. I need to know the name of the com port though to send/recieve data. How do i find this out?
Which operationg system do you have?..windows xp or any other..?
In Windows operating systems, use below steps.
Right click My computer=>properties=>hardware=>device manager.
It will open a window where you can find all hardware attached to your computer. In your case USB-RS232..( when you attach USB-RS232 it will be added there in device manager, hence you can get name of COM port like com1 or com2 or com3 from its properties.
