Monitor Problem, settings randomly changing?
I have a viewsonic E71f flat CRT monitor. It's been working fine until recently. The settings such as contrast, color, brightness go haywire at random. I have to use the OSD (onscreen display) to get it back to normal. I don't have to reset all though sometimes just cycling through the different options corrects the problem. The OSD text is also sometimes garbled.
Checklist of things I've tried
reconnecting monitor
changing refresh rate
switching graphics card
changing resolution

Hmmm... let's see - I remember having a similar problem.
Check the connection from the power cord to the monitor, both the cable and the actual connection on the monitor. Make sure all pins are clean and that you are making good contact.
Another thing, see if the power cord itself is somehow defective. This is difficult to test without another power cord.
If these two don't work and the items you tried don't work - chalk it up to planned obsolesce. Maybe time to get a new one.
