1000BaseT and 1000 BaseTX ethernet switch and NICard problem?
Hello, I'm trying to create 1000mbps LAN. I'm using (TPLINK TG 3269C) 1000BaseTX NIC cards and switch is Dlink DGS 1008D model. But this switch supports 1000BaseT ethernet and when I connect them it's only getting 100mbps speed. Is it happening from difference of Gigabit ethernet model? I mean 1000BaseT and 1000BaseTX ???
I'm already using APC brands CAT6 cables. Connectors are for CAT6.
There are one such standard
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigabit_Ethernet#1000BASE-TX
The NIC card has such standard.
1. I already tried to set NIC cards speed manually to 1000 mbps but no results.
2. The switch has no ability to set speed. It hasn't such feature the model is here (http://www.dlink.ca/products/?pid=230)
Check your cable. You need Cat5e or Cat6 cable and connectors to be 1000Mbps speed. That may be your issue here.
BTW there are no two models like T & TX. Both are the same.
Check to see if your NIC card is set to Auto sense Mode. Open your Network Connections, right click on your LAN connection, and select properties.
Click on "configure" button on general tab.
Select "Advanced" tab and click on speed & duplex. It should show "auto". If it doesn't then select auto.
If the setting was already on "Auto" then select the "1000" for the card and try.
Similarly login to your switch and check the port settings. First set with Auto and try. Otherwise set 1000Mbps speed and then try.
Ensure you select the correct duplex settings at both ends when setting the speeds manually (both NIC and switch port are either full duplex or half duplex).
Let me know if this still doesn't solve your issue.
