Stackable Managed Switches?

I currently have (Netgear FSM726) 2 x 24-port managed switches (with gigabit links) and want to add on an third switch. Do I have to assign an IP address to the third switch or should the router do this automatically. I assumed that since it was working as an extension of the other 2 switches it would be pretty much plug and play?

If you do not assign an IP to the switch, you will not know its address and you won't be able to bounce into it and manage it.
