Another great place to shop for Series Excellent products is Amazon. They have more than just books! Here are some more information for Series Excellent: Let's talk about New Funnies comics, one of the best Golden Age comic book series in my opinion. New Funnies is a Golden Age comic book series that started off just called The Funnies. With issue No. 64 (in 1942), the comic began focusing on Walter Lantz characters, such as Andy Panda and Oswald the Rabbit. With issue No. 65, it was renamed New Funnies. Woody Woodpecker was also one of the Lantz characters who appeared in the book. He was such a new character at the time, he was a guest-star in the Oswald the Rabbit stories for a year or two before he received his own comic strip in New Funnies. At first, Woody's strip was only one page. With issue No. 87, he began receiving a longer strip. Of course, as time went on, Woody Woodpecker became Walter Lantz' biggest star and was featured on most New Funnies covers from the mid-1940s until it was cancelled in the early 1960s. New Funnies is a great series. Not only are issues fairly easy to find--something surprising for a Golden Age comic book series--but many issues are not too expensive. Of course, the most sought-after issues are the earliest issues from the time the book switched from its early format to featuring the Lantz characters. The earliest Lantz-centric issues can cost hundreds of dollars in near-mint condition. Some issues that are highlights include issue No. 65 (the first issue of New Funnies), No. 69 (nice Halloween cover with Andy Panda, Raggedy Ann, and Felix the Cat), No. 89 and No. 101 (both World War II war bond covers). In my opinion, some of the best covers are the ones that feature three great Lantz characters together: Woody Woodpecker, Andy Panda and Charlie Chicken, a character who only appeared in a few cartoons but was featured in the comics from the 1940s to the 1970s. He's one of those forgotten characters who never received large-scale fame. Charlie Chicken appeared in two Andy Panda cartoons in the 1940s: Andy Panda's Victory Garden and Meatless Tuesday. Oddly, he fought Andy in both cartoons. They chased each other around Andy's farm. I call this odd because in New Funnies (and Andy Panda's own series) Charlie was Andy Panda's pal. Charlie first appeared in print in New Funnies No. 79 as a small chicken. As far as I can tell from my research (I don't own all the issues), Charlie was a full-grown chicken by his next comic book appearance. He was one of the stars in New Funnies for decades, even getting his own comic strip in the series. Yes, if you are a fan of Golden Age cartoons, Golden Age comic books or the Walter Lantz characters, I recommend picking up some old New Funnies issues via online comic book stores or eBay. You will not be disappointed in the prices or quality of the stories. Also, we need to keep the classic Golden Age characters alive! Red Sox Nation is waiting in anticipation for the 2008 MLB season with the hopes of seeing back to back championships, and their prospects look great. No one knows what the season holds, but we can consider a few important things that give the Red Sox an excellent chance of going to the post season again at the very least. After all, the off season was busy, especially with the entire steroids controversy heating up after the Mitchell report was issued. The good news is that during the off-season, the Red Sox managed to keep most of the 2007's World Series winning team intact. Their pitching rotation, and their infield and outfield are basically the same. Knuckleballer Tim Wakefield is back, and Doug Mirabelli, the Sox backup pitcher, finalized a one year deal to stick around. Big bats Ramirez and Ortiz will be back too. One of the biggest things that stops any team from making it to the playoffs - whether its baseball, football, basketball, etc. - is the loss of players that helped hold the team together. Missing team leaders can make a team lose their passion and emotion. You lose that; you will lose games. And that's what happened to the Red Sox after their 2004 World Series win; they lost a number of their important players like Pedro Martinez, Derek Lowe and Orlando Cabrera. Plus, when you replace players, the coaches and staff has to spend their time teaching the new players how their club specifically plays the game. One reason why key Boston players Mike Lowell and Curt Schilling stuck around for less money and fewer contractual years is because they know that the team has an excellent chance of winning back-to-back World Series. The outfielders will be same in '08 as well. This is the last year of Manny's $160 million contract, but he may stay past this year, especially if he has a good season. The Red Sox outfield in 2008 will consist of superstar Manny Ramirez in left field, J.D. Drew in right field, and either Ellsbury or Crisp in center field. Both Ellsbury and Crisp are still on the roster, so that may create a healthy competition between the two for center field. A team needs more than three men for the outfield to make it to the playoffs anyway. Crisp underperformed last year, and Ellsbury became a playoff hero last year, but both have their strengths and weaknesses. Consistency is big part of the game. The season is very long, and stamina and consistency is what gets teams to the playoffs. Fortunately, Boston's pitching rotation looks like it is going to be very similar to last year's. Beckett, Schilling, Matsuzaka, Wakefield, and Lester or Bucholz is a powerhouse lineup. The first half of the Red Sox season looks only mildly challenging. Based on the player's statistics and track records alone, the Red Sox look like they ought to win the '08 World Series if the line-up doesn't change, at least on paper. But once again, these guys have to play with heart and be consistent. Injuries, illnesses, and bannings because of steroids notwithstanding, the Boston Red Sox have a good chance at going all the way once again. The team is strong and although some players have filed for arbitration in order to increase their salaries, there doesn't seem to be any indication that they will leave the team. The Yankees are still aimlessly drifting in an effort to finish filling their roster. There are also negotiations still in the works regarding Johan Santana, a possible addition to the Red Sox's final roster. Once again, only time will tell. But the two time Cy Young Award winner would definitely make an impact on the team. The Boston Red Sox need to snatch him up before the Yankees or the Mets. The Red Sox have an excellent chance of winning back to back championships, and it's theirs to lose. If the Red Sox can play with heart, consistency, stamina and stay reasonably healthy, I expect to see them winning in October again. About the Author Jason OConnor owns and operates ClickitTicket.com How do you think of the Twilight series? I think the twilight series are excellent, but when I read through the second book which is new moon, it started getting me bored, but i don't know if the third one is good, anyone has any comment or suggestion?
i think that they're pretty kick ass books.. and i agree with you, the 2nd one got me kinda bored until edward came back. the third one is by far one of my most loved/hated books of the entire series. i love it because its more intense with the love between bella and edward, and because the fighting in its better than the rest of the books. I also hate it because bella is hurting edward, but he wont let her know that. and shes playing mind games with edward and jacob, "I love you edward" and "I love you jacob" and "I love you more edward. I know who i cant live without." so you can see i've read this book alot, but ya. they're pretty AWESOME. the movie looks pretty pimped out too... i think rob is perfect for edward but now i'm getting off the subject.
