emachines computer problem and yes i know emachines suck?

every time i turn the computer on it freezes at the logo e machines when it starts and i cant press nothing on the keyboard, it doesn't detect it and its not the keyboard i even used a six pin keyboard i then open the cd rom to put in the windows xp cd but it does the same thing which is displaying the logo but u can hear the cd running its not the power supply or ram because i replace the ps and its the same thing and the ram i just know its not that. i open the computer and everything inside is working the fan,cpu. I'm thinking its the motherboard or maybe the bios but i dont know.

The first thing I would do is power up your system again and determine if you hear the "beep" sound. If you do, then your system has past POST or power on self test. This means your memory, cpu and motherboard are probably ok. There are some items on the motherboard that is not tested, but it's a good sign. If it passes post, then I would try to get into your bios and change the settings to boot from your CDrom, then boot from a windows CD. However, based on what you are saying, it doesn't sound like your system passes POST, so i would move on to step two.

The second thing I would do is to remove the cables from your CD roms, hard drives and all other peripheral devices. This is called "breaking your system down to minimum configuration". You only need memory, CPU, motherboard, and the power supply...oh and your internal speakers connected to hear the "beep" sound after you power on your unit. IF you hear the beep sound after you power up your unit in minimum configuration, then you now KNOW that your memory, cpu and likely that your motherboard is ok. Then it could be one of your other devices LOADING down your system. At that point, I would connect my CDrom with the other device still disconnected and boot from the windows cd. If it now boots, then you know it's one of the disconnected devices loading down your system. So at that point its a process of elimination. If you can't get your system to past POST EVER...no matter what you do, then you know the problem is the either the cpu, motherboard (or bios), or memory. Based on my past experience, the motherboard goes out the most often of those components. However, I would clean the memory contacts first and reseat the memory. Always try the easiest thing first.

EDIT: Do NOT remove your led wires or smaller wires such as your power switch wires when breaking your system down to minimum configuration. You basically want to remove or disconnect the big stuff like CD roms, hard drives, floppy drives, sound cards, printers, etc. Chad above is correct, also leave the video card in as well.
