Amd phenom ii 955 quad black edition vs i7 920 without overclock compare them to me?

I need a cpu for gaming and I don't yet know how to oc.So I'd like an opinion of which of the two are better in their stock speeds.

AMD, provides decent performace for your cost, and I believe it uses less electricity out of the box...

Also, remember Intel paid large chain stores and distributors in the EU not to sell product with AMD CPUs, and there is an action by the US government for the similar type of monopolistic underhanded marketing in the US... The EU court decision alone is enough reason to question purchasing an Intel product. If Intel had not hampered AMD product sales where would their performace edge be today? I applaud AMD for giving us great product in the face of adversity of its competitor's EU proven illegal underhanded payola marketing...
