I have an HP with Vista and I shut it down Saturday night and when I tried to use it Sunday, the CPU turns on and sounds like its running but nothing appears on monitor and keyboard/mouse do not work. It almost seems like the computer didn't shut down all the way and is in "limbo". What can I do to fix this?

You deserve that for getting an HP and running windows. If you were smart, you would have gotten a Mac.

I say you take the HP out in a field and blow it up or shoot it with high caliber rifles and start over!
