why am i getting only about 7 Mbps over my wireless g network when i run a speed test.....?

but when i run a speed test on a wired computer on the network i get about 15 Mbps. The wireless network is supposed to be 54 Mbps, so why can i not even get past 7?

You may be confusing a few terms: All non cable broadband connection speeds are dependent on your package and distance from the exchange. For example if you have purchased a 15Mbps system it is unlikely that you will get the full 15Mbps unless you are sitting right on top of the Exchange. Your wireless connection of 54Mbps has nothing to do with your purchased connection speed to your ISP.
