DVI-D to VGA Converter:: Fusion of Digital and Analog Technology
DVI-D to VGA converter permits you to use a 15 Pin HD connector to connect a VGA projector or a monitor to a computer that has DVI-D video card. It supports a VGA resolution of 1900 x1200, 1600 x 1200, 1280x1024 and lower and is HDCP compliant. This device is best used if one is not interested in replacing expensive video monitors and display adapters. The various types of converters that are available are DVI-D, DVI-I Single Link, DVI-I Dual Link, and DVI-A. What this converter basically does is that it allows you to connect computers that have DVI-D single link graphics card to VGA analog monitors. On the other hand, a Video converter is a hardware device that permits you to connect a specific format of a video signal to a display of a specific type that it's compatible with. The different types that are available are DVI-D to VGA, VGA to DVI-D, Multi Video Digital Converter, USB to DVI, HDMI DVI Converter, HDMI RGB YPbPr Converter, HDMI VGA Converter and HDMI Converter Switchers.
Whereas a VGA to DVI-D converter is a hardware that permits you to use a VGA Video card to connect a DVI-D monitor and VGA monitor or projector to a computer, a Multi video digital converter is a bi-directional converter that allows you to connect a TV to PC or PC to TV with VGA/ S-Video (4 Pin miniDin) / Composite Video (RCA type) inputs/outputs. The USB to DVI converter permits you to utilize an extra USB port on your computer and connect a DVI video display or projector. HDMI DVI Converters permit using a simple DVI to HDMI converter box to convert DVI to HDMI format and VGA to HDMI converter allows converting VGA input into HDMI, thereby permitting you to show the image not only on your computer's monitor but also on your HDTV. DVI-D to VGA converter requires no external power supply, is equipped with a single link DVI-D input connector and a VGA 15 pin HD male output connector & has a DVI-D and VGA bandwidth of 1.6 GHz and 165 MHz respectively, with a frequency bandwidth of 165 MHz.
Due to its ability to convert digital signals to analog, it is being widely used in many applications globally.

Possible cord replacement 9 pin mini-din to 3x 3.5mm?
I have a MidiLand MX-5 surround system and one of the cords is badly damaged. It is a 9 pin mini-din to 3x 3.5mm audio jacks, and looks like this http://img600.imageshack.us/i/inpuy.jpg/ & male http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:MiniDIN-9_Diagram.svg
I was hoping if anyone would know where to get a replacement cord for this, or at least a way around it such as ... connector to connector to these 3.5mm jacks. Thanks for any help !
In most cases, such a cord is proprietary, so you would have to repair what you have, or make one, if you cannot get a replacement from the manufacturer.
If the 9 pin DIN part is intact, you can likely splice to replacement cords to that.
A more drastic measure, if you cannot get a 9 pin mini-din cable or plug, is to hardwire cables to the surround system PCB, use an avalable 9 pin plug/jack system (such as a DE-9), or a trio of 3.5mm inlet jacks and patch cords.
Thanks for visiting!
