HDMI Cable Problem?
I have a Philips HDMI cable that I hold been using to connect a DVD player to a LCD tv. I just this minute bought an Apple TV which I use component cables for. When I try to connect my DISHNETWORK reciever to the tv using the Philips HDMI cable, within is no signal. I have tried this several times, and it still doesn' work. There's not much of a selection, from what I've see. I own a question that I haven't see addressed anywhere, and I'm hoping that someone here have the answer. I often cartridge programs on my VCR to watch at a latter time. My question is, does direct tuning take place on the converter box, or can I simply hook up the converter box to my VCR and cartridge as usual, using the tuner in the VCR? Also, I can currently cassette one channel and view another but, after I hook the box up, if my setup is converter box to VCR to TV (as I have the antenna nouns now), will I still be able to view a different channel than the one I'm tape? How many MB of Graphic Card is recommended for 20" LCD monitor?

I am using NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT 256MB DDR3 Fansink for my LG 20-inch LCD monitor. Is it good enough to run 3D game like The Sims 2 or The Movies? What makes playing a game lagging? Is it mainly of graphic or CPU problem? I have a 2 GB of DDR2 800Mhz RAM so this wouldn't be a problem.
Just to add on to it, my CPU is a Intel® Core™2 Duo Desktop Processor E6400. My system is rather free from viruses, spyware, etc.I read from newspaper that the size of the monitor matters as nowadays the interface is DVI. The card need to support for more information for the native resolution.

Video ram doesn't matter much. A 512MB X1950XT isn't any faster than the 256MB version in most cases. How smoothly your game plays depends on both your CPU and your graphics card, and on whether or not you have enough ram (and you do since you have 2GB). If your CPU is too weak, it won't be able to supply your video card with information fast enough.

The physical size of the screen (number of inches) is irrelevant. What matters is the resolution you play the game at. To play demanding games at your monitor's native resolution (which I'm guessing is 1680 x 1050), you'll need a more powerful card than a 7600GT, but if you're just playing The Sims 2 or The Movies, that card should be enough.
