is it better to have one extremely powerful sub and amp?

at 2000-2500 watts max or two sub at around 1000watts each,is there any benefit to having two subs instead of one in the same area of wattage? thanks

I asked myself this question when I bought my first loud system. It was either 2 1000 watt MTX 9500 subs or 4 JL Audio W3's.

I went with the 2 MTX 9500 because if space issues but if I could do it all over again I would have chosen the 4 JL W3's.

My thought process was that I would have 2 "super woofers" in place of 4 good quality subs with less than half the power and aid displacement (xmax) capabilities.

My thought process was wrong. If I were you I would go for the multiple sub set up.

There are so many factors to consider when choosing your equipment that have not been addressed here but I am confident that you would be happier with 2 powerful subs compared to one extremely powerful one.

Take (1) Kicker Solo X 12" sub at 2500 watts RMS vs (2) JL Audio 13W7's at 1000 watts each and trust me.... JL would come out of top hands down and sound a lot better doing it.
