If all else fails do a repair on it with the installation package...
In Add remove click remove, then it will ask if you want to remove the program or repair it...choose repair. This will put all the settings back to default.
If you don't have the installation disk, I don't know how to help you as I've upgraded from v3 to v8 and the interface is different...
