Here are some more information for Desktop Ethernet: Sharing the printer with Windows traditional network sharing is not ideal. Printer status information, such as ink level, does not transmit well over traditional SMB printer sharing. A remote USB solution, on the other hand, makes the printer driver installed on a laptop behave as if the printer were directly attached. <a href="http://usb-over-network.com/usb-over-network.html">Ethernet to USB</a> can easily accomplish this task. The program allows to work with remote USB devices over a local network or Internet. All one has to do is to install USB over Network Server on the PC where USB devices are plugged in. USB over Network Client must be installed on the PCs one wants to give access to those very USB devices already plugged in. Any user which has installed USB over Network Client can work with remote USB devices as if they were connected directly to his local PC. The advantages are quite obvious: there is no need to move USB devices from one computer to another or occupy others' PCs to work with USB device. One can save your money considerably. How do i play my ps3 online by using my desktop w/ethernet cable to the ps3? i have a sierra wireless usb card, by sprint, hooked up to my desktop. i heard you could use an ethernet cord from the desktop to the ps3 to play, but i dont know how. i tried sharing and bridging connections, but im not to knowledgeable with that sort of thing to do it. is it possible? thanks
You cant hook it up that way. The ethernet port on the desktop tower is for incoming internet connections it will not work for outgoing connections which is what you need if you want to play online with a console. Its like trying to make water flow against gravity it doesnt work that way.The only way you can do it is hook up an ethernet cable from a modem or router. ‘Teachscape Instruction | Desktop’ Provides Educators New Options for Managing ‘Classroom Walkthrough (CWT)’ Data Thanks for visiting!

Ethernet to Usb. How to Share a Usb Printer
What if multifunctional printer is to be shared? Here is the brief problem description: "My old laptop failed and of course all the new ones come with the Vista operating system. At home I have a HP desktop (Vista Home Basic) connected to a Sharp AL-1642CS multifunction printer. I also use my laptop (Vista Home Premium) to share this printer. XP worked fine, but here is what Vista did. Either computer would print fine connected directly to the printer, but when shared the laptop only printed blank pages". In this case the program sets up remotely just as if the printer was connected to a laptop. It also allows to use the scan function which normally would not be available with sharing. The Ethernet to USB program would allow using the multifunction without a print server or running more wires.
