upgrading the cpu on my dimension e310?

hey there,

i believe the motherboard on an e310 has an intel 915GV chipset. according to the intel website:

....the positioned cpu seems to be exclusively P4. unless there's a bios update available to support it, c2d and q2d most likely won't work for you.

the highest processor speed you'll be able to achieve is 3.8 GHz, i believe, using: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=14134&vpn=BX80547PG3800EJ&manufacture=Intel

if you're considering upgrading, you should invest in more than just a new processor. even if you did install a quad-core, for example, the graphics, and memory performance would bottleneck overall performance significantly.
