My Athlon 64 x2 6000 is running 47-49 C idle in BIOS?

Heatsink/fan: Zalman 9500
Mobo: Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe
1) How hot will it get under load?
2) Is this unusual for this processor?
3) What could cause it? Poor application of thermal compound? Faulty fan/heatsink?
Before it was running 57 C. I changed thermal paste to Arctic Silver 5, swmoved case fans around and placed the intake right in frontof my A/C vent...it's cooled down to 47-49 C. Still seems too hot. I've tied back all cables. Not much more that i know to do, other than buy a new heatsink/fan.

Hi, well...I didn't have a new Athlon, But some time ago I had one AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+. It was always running at a temperature about 40-45. And he was overcloked. I think i have to do something with the heatsink, it can also be the settings in the BIOS. Did you check how is working you ventilator. I mean maybe there is an option in the bios to make it run slover or something like Cool & Qu.... . From the other side this is quate fast processor so maybe it's normal temperature. Normaly in the boot process it must run in the fastest speed (sorry for my bad english). Check also the connection between the processor and the cooler.Hope that i wrote something useful
