The point of an arcade machine was to try and get the high score. You spend hours of your time and dozens of your quarters learning everything about the game so that you can proudly say you’re the best. At least until it was time to turn the machine off and lose all those scores.
Modern gaming has come much further. If only because modern games remember things for longer. Leaderboards and achievements are stored electronically online and never lost. It gets better too because these achievements can be shared with your friends and other people who enjoy the same kind of games you do.
Smart wearables such as smartwatches are becoming more mainstream in the tech world. Though they still have their limits. They are really nothing when compared to, or without, the phones in our pockets. Qualcomm would like this to change.
Right now smartwatches and other wearables are very reliant on our phones and this does need to change. There have been some attempts to rectify this situation such as the Samsung Gear S and the LG Watch Urbane LTE, which was cancelled. If you like to take photos on your different iDevices then you know the problem of trying to put them all in one convenient place. It just gets worse if you add a digital SLR to the mix. Apple has a great system for removing this problem. They call it the iCloud Photo Library.
When you have the iCloud Photo Library feature turned any picture you take with an Apple device, or import to the photos app on your Mac, is stored online in your iCloud. It also keeps its full size and original quality. It can then be accessed on any device that is hooked up to that particular iCloud account. (more…)
If you haven’t heard of Meizu, the Chines smartphone developer, you wouldn’t be alone. However that is about to change thanks to their latest innovation; the Ubuntu powered smartphone Meizu Pro 5.
Ubuntu smartphones are still a very recent development and four of the Ububtu smartphones currently in existence were built by Meizu so Ubuntu still has some ground to make up in the Apple and Android ruled smartphone world. (more…)
